Hi Tim,
we've talked on the AERO about an automatic sync between all devices already and I understand that this is not possible for certain reasons. However, right now the handling of SD data is not very comfortable.

In my case, I plan everything on my PC, upload it, and just open it on my iPad. I do not do any planning on the tablet. So all data flows from my PC to my tablet, with the only exception of the flight logs.

It would be very helpful to have a "Upload everything" button, which pushes all planned routes, aircraft, settings, hidden NOTAMs and so on to the cloud at once. On to tablet, a "download everything" would be very helpful.

Regards,
Johnny

A possible solution would be to have multiple settings files, each one linked to a specific aircraft, so that by selecting a particular aircraft, the settings for that aircraft are automatically loaded.

Aircraft profiles are not included when settings are loaded or saved in the cloud. It is things like instrument settings, map layer visibility, and units, which are software usage preferences.

Hey Shifu, don't hijack my thread :-)

My idea hasn't been discussed so far and I still see a lack of usability. When I want to transfer all the planned routes and aircraft from the PC to my tablet, I need to upload 5 aircraft and about 15 routes (seperately!).
So, a "upload everytrhing" and "download everything" button would be appreciated.
A variant of that would be one button for every type of data, e.g. "upload all planes" and "upload all saved routes".

Shifu,
the best solution in my eyes would be to have SD acting the same way your e-mail account does. No matter where you login (browser, PC, mobile phone), you have the same folders, same e-mail messages, drafts and so on. If you delete an e-mail on one device, it is deleted everywhere.

As far as I know theres a problem with android which does not allow to this feature to be rolled out right now. So, my idea is provide this automatic feature as far as possible. And a "push everything to cloud" and "download everything" would be an enhancement to the current situation, where every part of a 5-leg-route has to be uploaded and downloaded seperately.

Given a computer for planning, a tablet for flying and a phone as a backup, this makes 15 steps (five uploads, ten downloads). thats rather annoying.

Is there a good reason not to have that 5 leg route all part of the same plan?

You haven't said WHY it's better to handle in several pieces. Having no option to print a PLOG overall is completely irrelevant as that wouldn't exist either way.

The benefit of having it in one file has been discussed already on this thread: that there are fewer bits and pieces to save to the cloud and load from the cloud.

No, not really. For a trip with many sectors, and somebody wishing to save them all and load them all from the cloud, having them grouped into one planned journey would result in a significant saving of time, depending on how many times the plan was altered. To call that benefit "almost nil" is disingenuous.

Hi Tim,
I kinda lost track on this thread. Combining several legs to one file helps to decrease the number of files drastiacally. However, it would be great to have a "Upload all aircraft to cloud" and "Download all aircraft from cloud" button. Same for routes. I use SkyDemon on the PC for planning, in the tablet for flying only.

Johnny
